I like receiving letters from readers. But I do not like receiving letters from self-annointed co-authors and self-annointed editors. (And self-annointed proofreaders are even worse.)

If your purpose of your letter is to engage me in conversation on some subject I have posted about, I'm very happy to hear from you. (But if it's about some anime DVD I haven't yet watched, I'd appreciate it if you'd resist the urge to send me spoilers about it.)

If your purpose is to convince me to rewrite something I've posted, either because you think I left something out, or because I included something you think I should not have, or because you would have written it differently than I did, please send your mail to the bit bucket, not to me.

Or post it on your own web site.

The canonical example of a letter I don't want to receive begins thusly:

I've been a reader of your site for a very long time, but this is the first time I've ever written because it's the first time I've found something I can criticize.
